Congratulations to RS Hanna Gallery’s Marc Hanson for receiving both the Best of Show and the Artist’s Choice Awards on July 28th at the 2012 Door County Plein Air Festival! 

The festival is held at the Peninsula School of Art from July 23 through July 28th in the quaint harbor town of Fish Creek, WI.   The Door County Plein Air Festival is the largest outdoor painting festival in the Midwest and it is also the largest annual fundraising event hosted by Peninsula School of Art.  Founded over 45 years ago, the Peninsula School of Art has grown to become a year-round destination for artists and art appreciators of all ages and levels, with facilities for painting, drawing, metal arts, ceramics, sculpture and photography. Their programs include: workshops for novice artists just beginning their artistic pursuits and advanced artists seeking continuing artistic development; gallery exhibitions that educate and inspire; and events that are a tribute to their surroundings and the history of plein air painting. 

Marc Hanson is the 2011 Bronze Medal recepient the prestigious National Oil Painters of America (OPA) Show.  He will be one of the artist’s in attendance at RS Hanna’s Gallery’s meet the artist reception, October 5th.  

Other artists participating are Dan Beck, the 2011 National Gold Medal winner of the OPA and Peter Fiore who recently was awarded the Grand Prize in an international competition that resulted in his work being exhibited at the World Art Museum in Bejing this September.  Another premiere  show spotlighting RS Hanna Gallery’s depth of talent and collectability.  Proud to represent all of our fine “artist’s artists” in our beautifully restored, well lighted place a few steps off the beaten path.
